DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Steven Wright, the chairman of the Dorchester County Republican Party, will seek a second-term.

Wright announced his re-election campaign in a press release on Jan. 25. He was first elected to the position in 2021.

“Two years ago I ran for chairman because our party required a bold new direction in order to meet the challenges facing our county, state, and nation,” Wright said in a statement. “Since that time, we have rolled up our sleeves and delivered historic victories for our party and Dorchester County.”

“Since 2021, we have raised the resources required to deliver victories up and down the ballot,” he continued. “For the first time in Dorchester County, every resident elected official is now a Republican, the only county in the Lowcountry with this accomplishment. In 2022, we defeated Democrats in straight ticket voting by 23%, an 8% increase from 2020, and we have grown our membership by 60%. I look forward to building on the positive results over the last two years by pursuing an agenda to keep Republicans winning in Dorchester County.”
